I got a Cintiq last year, and I haven't looked back since!
  • Corel Painter 2015
I use this program to create the raw art. Its imitation of traditional media is uncanny. I do my sketches and painting directly on the Cintiq.
  • Adobe Photoshop CC
I use this to finish my art. It's the best for color balancing, titling, and layering effects. The monthly fee helps you avoid the initial investment required by an outright purchase.
  • AzPainter2 and AzDrawing
Barely translated from the Japanese, these two small art programs pack a major punch, especially when you consider they're free! I've used AzPainter2 for inking because it has a line smoothing tool that helps prevent line wobble. That's something neither Painter nor Photoshop have.
  • Sculptris
Speaking of free, Sculptris is an awesome 3D modeling package that handles very much like clay.
  • ZBrush 4R6
What can I say, the ZRemesher feature alone is worth the price of admission in this amazing 3D software.
  • 3D Studio Max
My go-to software for 3D modeling, texturing, rigging, animating, and rendering.

It is a way to get your favorite role playing game character drawn by a professional artist. The idea is for a hand-picked cadre of artists with a variety of styles to be available to draw your character. Currently, that cadre is me, Denis Loubet.

All these characters were described by fans who wanted their character drawn or painted. Some gave me broad guidlines, others dropped their character sheet on me, and some wanted the character to look like them! (Likenesses were a feature I never intended, but it turned out I could do it pretty well!) Let your friends know!

Why I'm running a Patreon Project.

So I can make my work for Drawmycharacter economically feasable for me without raising prices! The more patrons I get, the more time I can afford to spend on each character. And depending on how well it goes, the more swag I can offer to my customers and my backers, so let all your friends know about the Total Output Patreon project.

Notes on DrawMyCharacter:

Each of these drawings took too long to do to make it economically feasable. I dispaired that I would either have to raise my prices so that only the 1% could afford them, or give up on the idea entirely. Patreon changed that gloomy forecast. I can keep my prices reasonable, and still make each one economically feasable. That's not a rhyme, it's a business model that should work!

It doesn't help that I can't keep one level of rendering from blurring into the next. Some of the works that look like paintings are actually supposed to be only finished pencils with color, but once I start shading I sometimes can't stop!

Another thing is that I never intended to do likenesses, because I didn't think I could pull it off. But it actually has proved to be fairly easy. Although it is sometimes a challenge to turn a civilized gamers face into hard-bitten warrior features.
